An Pretty Affordable Polyporpylene Carpet

Polypropylene is often used in the production of carpet yarns since it is such an affordable material. The material is difficult to dye though, and does not wear nearly as well as nylon or wool does. Polypropylene is often used to construct berber carpets. When it is used in this manner, the material is referred to as olefin. The large looped olefin berber carpets are mostly only suited for light domestic use as they tend to wear down quickly. The smaller the loops, the more resilient the carpet tends to be. Small loop carpets also tend to retain their new appearance much longer than large looped berber styles. Commercial grade carpets have extremely small loops and when made using polypropylene, these styles wear very well. This makes them ideal for areas such as offices, where there is heavy foot traffic. Polypropylene is stain resistant, but once a stain has set it is extremely difficult to clean.
